Magellan car GPS navigation systems offer solid navigation capabilities at competitive prices.

Focusing on features directly related to vehicle navigation and disregarding nonessential extras (such as MP3 players) allows Magellan to under-price the competition.

All models have touchscreens with simple, easy user interfaces and helpful features such as Quickspell, which speeds up address entry, and SmartDetour, which routes around slow freeway traffic.

Maestro 3000 Series

This series of Magellan car GPS navigation systems deliver solid value at affordable prices. All are small and thin, with a 3.5-inch screen.

The Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS is the entry level model offering basic navigation at a very low price. It is pre-loaded with maps of the 48 contiguous U.S. states.

The 3140 offers premium features at an affordable price. It has Bluetooth for hands-free calling, spoken street names, maps of North America, and 4.5 million points of interest. AAA travel information is also included.

The Maestro 3200 comes with maps of the lower 48 states plus Hawaii and Puerto Rico and 1.3 million points of interest.

The Magellan Maestro GPS 3210 has maps of North America, Puerto Rico, and features 6 million points of interest. It also includes the AAA TourBook with AAA-approved businesses and recreation points of interest.

The Maestro 3220 comes with maps of North America, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and includes 6 million points of interest.

The Maestro 3225 model speaks street names. It also has maps of North America, Puerto Rico, and 1.3 million points of interest.

The Maestro 3250 accepts voice commands and enables hands-free calling. It has an integrated traffic receiver, AAA Tourbook and maps of North America and Puerto Rico. It also features 6 million points of interest.

Maestro 4000 Series

This series of Magellan car GPS navigation systems has 4.3 inch wide screens and AAA TourBook Guide information.

The entry level Magellan 4000 GPS comes with maps of the contiguous 48 states.

The Magellan Maestro 4040 GPS speaks street names and allows hands-free calling. It includes maps of North America and Puerto Rico, plus 4.5 million points of interest.

The Maestro 4050 has the same features as the 4040 with the addition of voice command, traffic updates, and multiple-point routing.

The Maestro 4200 has maps of the lower 48 states, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. It only has 1.3 million points of interest.

The Maestro 4210 includes maps of North America and Puerto Rico, plus a whopping 6 million points of interest.

The Maestro 4220 speaks street names and has maps of the U.S., Canada and Mexico as well as 6 million points of interest.

The 4250 GPS accepts voice commands, speaks street names and enables hands-free calling. It has traffic update capability and maps of North America and Puerto Rico (6 million POIs).

The Maestro 4350 comes with a suite of high-end features: hands-free calling, spoken street names, lane guidance, traffic updates, and 3D buildings. The customizable OneTouch menu streamlines searches. It includes maps of North America and Puerto Rico (6 million POIs).

The 4370 has the same features as the 4350. It is sold only at Best Buy.

Maestro 5000 Series

The Maestro 5310 has a very large 5-inch screen. It comes with traffic report capability, AAA TourBook and maps of North America and Puerto Rico (6 million POIs).

RoadMate 1200 Series

These Magellan car GPS navigation systems have a 3.5-inch screen and a small, rugged design.

The Magellan RoadMate 1200 comes with a 3.5-inch screen and pre-loaded maps of the lower 48 states, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. The points of interests list is a bit small at 1.3 million.

The Magellan RoadMate 1212 has a 3.5-inch screen, speaks street names and includes maps of North America and Puerto Rico. It has large points of interests list that includes 6 million points.

RoadMate 1400 Series

This series has a 4.3-inch wide screen.

The RoadMate 1400 has maps of the lower 48 states, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

The 1412 speaks street names and comes with maps of North America and Puerto Rico.

The 1430 has the same features as the 1412 with the addition of traffic report capability.
